Accessibility
Access.
Who can use Valmont, what we have built for that, and what we are still working on. Plainly stated.

Our commitment
Valmont is built to be used by everyone, whatever the device, whatever the input, however you read a screen. The room is open.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We treat that as the floor, not the finish.
What is in place
These are real, in the site today:
- Skip to content. A skip link is the first thing keyboard users reach. It jumps straight past the navigation to the main content.
- Visible focus. Every link, button, and field shows a clear focus ring when you move through the page by keyboard.
- A keyboard friendly menu. The menu opens as a dialog. Focus moves into it, stays inside while it is open, and returns to the button that opened it when you close. Escape closes it. While closed, it stays out of the way of keyboard and screen reader users.
- Reduced motion respected. If your system asks for less motion, we honour it. Reveals, scrolling marquees, and looping animations stand still.
- Clear structure. Each page uses one main region, with a single header, navigation, and footer, so screen readers can move by landmark.
- Text alternatives. Images carry descriptive alternative text, and controls that show only an icon carry a label that names what they do.
- Readable contrast. Text on the paper palette is set to meet AA contrast, including the quieter grey tones used for secondary text.
- A labelled country selector. The country menu in the phone field is a labelled control with named options, and where flag emoji do not render it falls back to the country's letters, so its meaning never rests on the flag alone.
Known limits
We would rather be honest than boast.
- This is a young site. It is small today and growing. New sections may land before every check is complete.
- Some embedded parts vary. A few third party pieces, such as the phone field, render markup we do not fully control, so their behaviour may differ from the rest of the page.
- This is a living statement. As the site and the app grow, both the site and this page will change with them.
Tell us about a problem
If something gets in your way, or a part of the site is hard to use with assistive technology, write to hello@valmont.app. Tell us the page and what happened. We read every message and we will fix what we can.
Updates
We revise this statement as the site grows and as we close gaps. The date at the top reflects the current version.
