Rewards terms
Rewards.
How invite codes work, and the rules that keep them fair.

About these terms
These terms apply from Valmont 1.0.9 and form part of our Terms of Use. They replace the earlier £5-credit programme, which is closed. Credit granted under it is unaffected. Golden nominations and Founder requests are separate programmes and are not covered here.
1. What the programme is
Every Valmont member has one referral code. A code is five characters, for example G284R, and its link is https://valmont.app/r/G284R. A code is permanent and always on: it has no slots, no names attached to it and no expiry.
- A friend who joins Valmont with your code gets 30 days of Valmont Pro, free.
- Once that friend has finished setting up their account, they count towards your rewards.
- Counted friends move you up the ladder in section 4. Rewards arrive on their own.
Codes use the characters 23456789ABCDEFGHJKMNPQRSTUVWXYZ. There is no 0, O, 1, I or L, so a code read aloud cannot be mistaken for another. Codes are not case-sensitive, and spaces or dashes typed into one are ignored.
2. Who can use a code (the friend)
A code can be applied by an account only when all of the following are true:
- The account is new. Both the Valmont sign-in account and the Valmont profile were created no more than 7 days (168 hours) before the code is applied.
- The account has not used a code before. Each account can apply one code, once.
- The person has not used a code before. We recognise a person by their sign-in account, their verified email address and their verified phone number. A person who has already applied a code cannot apply another one from a new account, even after deleting the old account. For this check, email addresses are compared in lower case, without any +tag, and for Gmail without dots.
- It is not their own code. Your own code, or the code of any account that shares your email address or phone number, cannot be applied.
- The person is 18 or over, by the date of birth given at sign-up. An account with no date of birth cannot apply a code until one is added.
- The account is in good standing: it is not banned or locked.
- The code is active.It exists, its owner's account still exists, and it has not been disabled under section 6.
Ways to apply a code: open the invite link, enter the code during setup ("Have an invite code?"), paste it, or enter it from Rewards within the 7-day window. On Android, a code carried by the Play Store install link is applied automatically.
The friend's gift
- The gift is 30 days of Valmont Pro, granted as soon as the code is accepted. It does not renew and nothing is charged when it ends.
- A friend who already has Valmont Pro (a trial, a subscription, a nomination, an offer code) does not get the gift, because there is nothing to add. The code is still accepted, and the friend still counts for the referrer once they finish setting up.
- If the gift cannot be confirmed straight away, it is retried automatically and shows as pending until it lands.
3. When a friend counts (the referrer)
A friend counts when they finish onboarding on their new account, not when they apply the code. Accounts that never finish setting up earn nothing. A friend counts once per person, ever.
The Rewards screen shows how many friends have counted, and how many have applied your code but are still setting up ("still settling in").
4. The ladder
- 1 friend, First Pour: 1 free month of Valmont.
- 3 friends, Tasting Flight: the Tasting Flight badge.
- 5 friends, Grand Cru: 1 year of Valmont.
- 10 friends, Cellar Key: the Cellar Key badge.
- 20 friends, Sommelier's Circle: 2 years of Valmont.
- 50 friends, Vintage Legend: Valmont for life.
- Each rung is awarded once per person.
- Badges are awarded immediately.
- Months stack: time is added to the end of any free or cancelled access you already have, so no earned time is lost.
- If you pay through the App Store or Google Play and your plan renews automatically, earned months wait until your paid plan ends, so you never pay for time you were given. They are then added automatically.
- Vintage Legend is reviewed, then granted.A person at Valmont checks every Vintage Legend before it is granted (section 5). Once approved, Lifetime is granted at once, even while a store subscription is running. Cancel that subscription in your device's Settings so you are not charged again. Valmont cannot cancel a store subscription for you.
- Valmont for life is a promotional grant on your account. Technically it runs until 1 January 2126. A later store purchase does not replace it.
A push notification tells you when a friend counts and when you reach a rung. Pushes never name the friend. When a friend's count reaches a rung, you get the rung's push only.
5. Abuse handling
Most guards are automatic:
- New-account rule, one code per person, and no self-referral (section 2). These are checked on the server every time a code is applied.
- Rate limits. An account can try at most 5 codes a minute and 20 a day. After 10 codes that do not exist, the account cannot try again until the day ends. There are also limits per network address and per code, so one code cannot be hammered from many places.
- Velocity hold. When more than 10 friends count within 24 hours, or more than 15 people use your code within 30 days, a reward of months is held for review rather than granted. Vintage Legend is always held for review. Badges are not held. A held reward is shown as on its way on the Rewards screen, and a person at Valmont reviews it. Rewards that pass review are granted as normal.
The following are not allowed, and void any rewards earned through them:
- creating accounts, or using other people's identities, to count as your own friends;
- disposable or throwaway email addresses or phone numbers used to get around the one-per-person rule;
- automated or scripted sign-ups;
- posting your code on coupon, "get paid to sign up" or reward-exchange sites;
- presenting yourself as Valmont in order to drive sign-ups.
6. What Valmont may do
Valmont may, acting reasonably:
- disable a code that is being abused, after which it cannot be applied;
- refuse or withdraw a held reward;
- remove rewards that were earned through conduct in section 5;
- change, pause or end the programme. Rewards already granted remain yours.
Material changes to these terms are announced in the app before they take effect. We will tell you why we made a decision if you ask.
7. Data and privacy
To run the programme we keep:
- your code, and the first name shown on your invite (only your first name, never your surname, username or photo);
- which code each new account applied, when, and the gift's outcome;
- the rungs you have reached and the state of each reward;
- one-way digests of a friend's sign-in id, verified email and verified phone, used only to enforce "once per person". These are keyed hashes. They cannot be turned back into an email address or phone number, and they are kept after an account is deleted, because otherwise deleting and re-creating an account would reset the one-per-person rule. They are kept for the life of the programme plus 24 months;
- an audit log of each step, which holds no names, emails, phone numbers or codes from failed attempts.
The person who invited you is never shown your name, and you are never shown theirs beyond the first name on their invite. A data export includes your code, how many friends counted, your rungs, and, if you joined with a code, the date and the gift's outcome. It says only that the code belonged to "a Valmont member".
Codes, links and names are never sent to analytics. The invite web page shows only the first name. Its share image is generic.
When an account is deleted, its code is retired and never issued to anyone else, so an old link can never credit a stranger. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
